Fox Hill Farm•Larry Lampman
Ancramdale, NY
The Lampman’ s 316 acre farm of rolling hills, old barns and period
farmhouse has been in their family since 1882. Larry continues the farming
tradition with 75 head of beef cattle. He has a mixed breed herd, with
Red Devons and Devon crosses, and some recently added British Whites and
Murrray Grays. The base of the herd, however, is Hereford, Red Angus and
Angus, the principal English meat breeds.
The herd is fed hay and haylege in the winter months and is out on grass
the rest of the time. In the summer the herd listens to the music of the
nearby blue grass festivals.
Larry knows the dam and sire of each of his animals and can spell you a yarn
about most of them. |
